There will be a benefit concert, Hand in Hand, with a host of star celebrities (such as Oprah Winfrey, George Clooney, Beyonce, Julia Roberts, Richard Gere, Barbara Streisand, Justin Bieber, Drake, Kerry Washington, Jamie Foxx, Reese Witherspoon, Karlie Kloss, Rob Lowe, Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Kelly Rowland, Adam Sandler, Ryan Seacrest, Michael Strahan, and Blake Shelton) next week to raise funds for victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. This one hour telethon will be broadcasted live in the U.S. on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at 8:00 pm EST, across ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and Cabler CMT in a roadblock fashion. Country superstar George Strait will appear on the telecast in concert from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, TX. The telecast will originate from the Universal Studios lot, Time Square, and Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry.
Proceeds from this event, Hand in Hand, will be distributed to a range of charities for recovery efforts in Texas (resulting from Hurricane Harvey, Aug. 25-Sep. 2, 2017) and in Florida (will be resulting from Hurricane Irma), such as United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Feeding Texas and the Mayor’s Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief, etc.
The death toll from Harvey, about a week ago, is about 30. Tens of thousands of people in the southeastern Texas have already been displaced from their homes due to damage or destruction by days of torrential rain, winds, and floods. The state of Florida is currently under state of emergency and is expecting much damage by the upcoming arrival of the cataclysmic Category 5 Hurricane Irma on Sunday (tomorrow) and Monday. Both Texas and Florida will be needing much assistance in their recovery.
The Hand in Hand is organized by music manager Scooter Braun (Bieber Ariana Grande) and rapper Bun B. Locations for this event include New York (Time Square), Los Angelse (Universal Studios), Nashville (Grand Ole Opry House), and San Antonio (Majestic Theater). Its broadcast will be produced by SB Projects and Den of Thieves with Scooter Braun, Bernard ‘Bun B’ Freeman, Allison Kaye, Jesse Ignjatovic and Evan Prager serving as Executive Producers. Additional Executive Producers are Chris Choun, and Lee Lodge with Jordan Brown, Penni Thow and Barb Bialkowski serving as Co-Executive Producers.
