Prepare For Hurricane Irma-Where To Find Water, Shelters, Etc. In Central Florida
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

If you have not yet left town (in Central Florida) by now, it is best to stay put and prepare for Hurricane Irma instead of joining the traffic congestion of thousands and thousands of Floridians trying to leave the state. In Central Florida, Orlando mayor has announced mendatory evacuation for residents in mobile homes. If you are in Southern Florida, you are still encouraged to evacuate or find a safe shelter. At this point, at least one third of the Florida’s gas stations are out of gas. By Saturday morning at 2:00 am, EDT, only 3% of Florida gas stations have gasoline. Even though three tankers were escorted by the police vehicles to Tempa area earlier today, some of the drivers on the Florida roads had to abandon their cars due to lack of fuel. So, if you are still in town, stay put, and hope that the more rigorous Florida building code since 1998 would help buildings to withstand the Irma’s wind. To help you make decision in terms of whether or not to seek shelter, please feel free to refer to www.weather.com and https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/34786:4:US for Windermere’s 10 day forecast and https://weather.com/weather/tenday/l/USFL0372:1:US for Orlando’s 10 day forecast. (Buildings built after Hurricane Andrew should be able to withstand wind up to 100 mph)
In addition to our previous post on Preparations For Hurricane Irma, I’d like to add plastic/paper cups, plates, utensils, napkins, in case the power goes out and you cannot wash any dishes.
