Even though I am a resident in Windermere, I often participated and covered activities and frequented businesses in Winter Garden. It is bordered on the south by the town of Windermere, on the east by the city of Ocoee, on the west by the town of Oakland and on the north by Lake Apopka. It is a city located 14 miles (23 km) west of downtown Orlando in western Orange County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. Winter Garden’s population as of the 2010 census was 34,568. It is one of the most community spirited cities I have ever seen.
If you are interested in finding out what makes up such a community-spirited city, check out an event, The History of Winter Garden, that will be presented by Jim Crescitelli. It will take place on Thursday, July 6, 2017, at 1:30 pm, at the Winter Garden Heritage Foundation, Heller Hall, 21 E. Plant Street, Winter Garden, FL. Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by July 1, 2017 at 407-287-5046. Come and learn about the unique history of Winter Garden and West Orange County!
