Vote on Senate Health Care Bill Is Delayed
Dear Friends & Neighbors,

(Please click on red links & note magenta)
With nine Republican Senators opposing the current state of the health care bill, the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, said on Tuesday (June 27, 2017), that the Republicans would not vote on legislation to repeal the Affordable Care Act before July 4 recess. Senator McConnell is facing resistance from across the board, from the most moderate and conservative senators as well as others.
“We will not be on the bill this week, but we’re still working toward getting at least 50 people in a comfortable place,” said Mr. McConnell.
There is no guarantee that Republican senators will come together after July 4 recess. Opponents of the bill, including patient advocacy groups and medical organizations, plan to lobby senators in their home states next week. Senator Chuck Schumer, the Democratic leader, said that “the fight is not over.” Much remains to be seen. The only certainty is in a heated summer of health care battles.
