Update on Healthcare Bill

Dear Friends & Neighbors,

(Please click on red links & note magenta)
It just came down the wire that Senate health-care draft repeals Obamacare taxes, provides bigger subsidies for low-income Americans than House bill. A discussion draft circulating on Wednesday afternoon among the lobbyists would roll back the ACA (Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare)’s taxes, phase down its Medicaid expansion, rejigger its subsidies, give states wider latitude in opting out of its regulations and eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood. Majority of the American voters want the Republicans to compromise with the Democrats and come to a bipartisan solution for the healthcare reform. Trump said “can’t guarantee anything…a plan with heart….” Until the Republicans can pass a workable healthcare bill to become the law, Obamacare would be the law of the land. Trump admits on Wednesday that Democrats’ input would make the healthcare bill much better, “It could be so beautiful….”. Let’s view the videos below to find out why Democrats inputs were absent, below (I implore you to view the videos below, especially videos of Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, and Al Franken).
It is also interesting that Trump commented that legal immigrants should not receive health care or public assistance within the first five years of their arrival in USA. Trump promised that he will work on this. It would be an admirable goal if there is no law guaranteeing this. However, this had been the law of the land since 1990’s. This means that neither President Trump nor his cabinet counsel/members know nor did the research on the existing laws before making such comments in a speech.
Democrats were not provided with the Healthcare Bill. They were only provided with a discussion draft. Democrats are asking for transparency and efficiency for potential one hour debate on each and every amendments that will be added to this bill. Analogy by Democratic Senator, “we prefer patching the roof rather than burning the house down.”
