I often stop by the Windermere Library (aka: Franklin W. Chase Memorial Public Library at 530 Main Street, Windermere, FL) after visiting Windermere Farmers Market on Friday afternoons, for moments of respite from the summer heat. It’s such a gem of a “Florida Cracker” style building, with a comforting wrap-around porch and 2 wonderful “Reader(s)” statues (one in honor of Grandchildren of Jim and Lynne Passilla and the other “Reading is Forever” in memory of Lucy Nabres and Mollie Belle.

It began as a town library, became a branch of the Orange County Library System (OCLS) in August of 1991. The current building resulted from efforts and donations from many Windermere residents. These days it opens on Mon-Thu (10:00 am-8:00 pm), Fri & Sat (10:00 am-5:00 pm), and closes on Sun.
During the most recent visit I had of Windermere Library, there was a workshop for young kids to create Father’s Day gifts in the meeting room.
