Even if President Trump has already left the country for an eight-day trip overseas (first destination to Saudi Arabia, total of 5 nations), more updated information concerning Trump-Russian investigation continue to surface within the last 24 hours. Below, there are multiple reports regarding:
- Trump told Russians in oval office that firing “nut job” Comey eased “great pressure” from investigation
- White House lawyers have begun researching the process of impeachment
- James Comey will testify publicly before the Senate Intelligence Committee after Memorial Day
- Much of the wounds/problems had been self-inflicted by Trump himself
Video below is from ABC News on Trump told the Russians Comey is a “NUT JOB” and Firing Comey Relieved “Great Pressure” From Him:
Maddow’s report further confirms that:
- President Trump did fire FBI Director Comey to alleviate pressure of the Russian investigation and bragging about this to the Russians.
- Two U.S. officials say the activities of a current White House official…are now under investigation in the FBI’s Russia collusion probe.(confirmed by Pete Williams & Ken Dilanian of NBC News and the Washington Post)
- Law enforcement officials tell NBC News that both former national security adviser Michael Flynn and former campaign chairman Paul Manafort are now formally considered as “subjects” of a criminal investigation.(confirmed by both The Washington Post and NBC News)
- Investigative work now being done by FBI also includes determining whether any financial crimes were committed by people close to the president.(reported by Washington Post)
- another report recently surfaced: New documents show “Trump aide laundered payments from party with Moscow ties, lawmaker alleges“(reported by Wasington Post)
- Exclusive: Trump campaign had at least 18 undisclosed contacts with Russians: sources (according to Reuters report)
- One week, three more Trump-Russia connection (CNN report)
- “Person of interest” is a term used by U.S. law enforcement when identifying someone involved in a criminal investigation who has not been arrested or formally accused of a crime. It has no legal meaning, but refers to someone in whom the police are “interested,” either because the person is cooperating with the investigation, may have information that would assist the investigation, or possesses certain characteristics that merit further attention. (explained by Washington Security reporter of Washington Post)
- White House tried to block former acting Attorney General Sally Yates from testifying in front of Congress and asked former FBI Director Comey to shut down the Russia investigation into Michael Flynn
- Reince Priebus, the White House Chief of Staff, asked Mr. Comey to help push back on reports
- There may be efforts to shut down special investigation: 1. order deputy attorney general to fire special counsel Mueller 2. order deputy attorney general to restrict scope of investigation 3.order deputy general to impede resources for Mueller’s investigation 4. order DOJ to rescind special counsel regulations (listen to Neal Katyal, former U.S. Acting Solicitor General, 27:20-43:40 in the video below)
- In March of 2017, Trump fired 46 sitting U.S. attorneys across the country (Barbara McQuade, former U.S. Attorney explains who are the experts in counter-intelligence investigation, 35:47-39:00)
- Something is wrong: Comey was fired by Trump right after having requested for more resources from the Justice Department for investigation into Russia interference into U.S. 2016 elections (39:30- 43:40 )
Since Rachel Maddow’s video is no longer available, I am embedding another video below by NBC on similar topic.
