Transcript Is Demanded By Senator Chuck Schumer of New York…..Why Is Trump So Nice To Russia?

Today, President Trump’s tweeted and confirmed the report of his revealing highly classified information, sharing “facts pertaining to terrorism and airline flight safety.” Even though White House officials denounced, on Monday evening, the Washington Post report earlier last week, saying President Trump did not disclose intelligence sources or methods to the Russian officials on May 10, 2017, but only shared information about a range of common threats. But Trump’s tweets indicate otherwise. So, today, Senator Chuck Schumer of New York explains the potential ramifications of Trump’s action and demands transcript (of the meeting between President Trump and Russian Ambassador and Foreign Minister on May 10, 2017) from the White House to be made available to the Congressional Intelligence Committee as soon as possible. Until the Administration would hand over the pertinent and unedited transcript, it is within reason that the Americans would doubt the ability of the President to handle any classified information.
If this report were true, then President Trump has badly damaged our national security in several ways:
- disclosure of this type would threaten our relationship with our allies that provide us with vital intelligence and may result in the loss of this intelligence source, making us less safe
- this type of disclosure could damage our interests in Middle East (we did not collaborate with Russia in Syria or elsewhere Middle East due to our diverging interests)
- such disclosure indicates recklessness in handling classified information and would further damage the relationship between White House and the intelligence community and national security
