From time to time, I’d come across a gem at the Windermere Farmers Market, originated with an intriguing concept and executed with careful precision. Such a gem I have found in the products and company of Cocoa Brothers . 

In our modern world of hustle and bustle, constantly peppered with air of instant gratifications, Simone of Cocoa Brothers brings us not only the splendid chocolates made purely by hand, in small quantities, tempered on a marble slab rather than an industrial equipment. These chocolates are made with only two ingredients: organic cocoa and sugar. Therefore there is no preservatives,  no additives, no need to fear for the presence of gluten, soy, or dairy. These original chocolates are made from a recipe over four hundred years old (with roots going back to ancient Aztecs), from Modica, Italy (about 1.5 hour drive from Sicily, Italy), that calls for a lower temperature, resulting in undissolved sugar creating a crunchy texture (not found in store bought chocolates). At the moment, Cocoa Brothers is carrying 50% and 75% cocoa chocolates in 6 different flavors (original, spicy, rice puff, peppermint, 75% cocoa, and coffee) and is planning on also carrying 85% cocoa chocolates in the future. Cocoa Brothers is a small business created by three brothers who want to share the uniqueness of Modica Chocolate with the world. They also want to take the opportunity to bring us to a full immersion in the 1800’s past via their hand made chocolates, made from a recipe from 1800’s, packaged  from 1887 letterpress, a Golding Pearl #3, powered by a foot treadle just like grandma’s sewing machine. Their boxes, business cards, and everything that is on paper are custom-made. Their hand-drawn graphics have been converted into a stamp compatible with that specific letterpress. They print on recycled paper, then using the custom-made die cut to cut the box’s silhouette into the paper. Then they glue the sides and wrap every piece of chocolate by hand.

Finally, even the presentation at the booth by Simone, is filled with an air of nostalgic trip to the 1800’s. Simone’s attire (cap, bow tie, and suspenders), demeanor, and the tempo of his speech pattern complete our journey traveling back to a time unencumbered by high-tech machinery, mass production, or artificial ingredients.

Now,we are being forced back to our reality, brought to us by Rachel Maddow, on special report with Adam Schiff (top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee) , regarding House Intelligence Committee’s investigation of President Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia. Maddow indicates that it is becoming common wisdom in Washington D.C. that this investigation has essentially been blown up. But Congressman Adam Schiff disagrees with such an assessment. In this report by Maddow and Schiff, it is alarming to find that the White House would undermine such an official Congressional investigation. Please view below:

 Maddow further embellished and analyzed the influence of Putin in Europe (esp. that of election in France and Germany) as well as in USA. She further summarized the promotion or strategy of divisions within  Western alliances has surfaced in EU (Brexit and potential future departure of France from EU) and in USA ( leader of the Calexit or Californian secession movement actually lives in Siberia/Russia, and as part of the Ani-Globalist Movement of Russia). Americans, as well as Europeans, need to carefully consider any future investigations, elections, etc. if world stability is the goal.
