Did you know that on Saturday, between Oct. 8-29, 2016, several local homes and commercial sites in the Brevard area will be participating in the 21st Annual National Solar Tour, being conducted by the American Solar Energy Society, which has arranged for over 3,500 Solar Tours to be conducted across the country? The FREA-Florida Renewable Energy Association (Florida Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society), is conducting its annual local Solar Tour on those days (between Oct. 8-29, 2016) from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Here in Central Florida, there will be seven homes and businesses on the tour. Below is information on how you can attend the 2016 National Solar Tour in the Central Florida area. The National Solar Tour offers an opportunity to see how others in your community are putting reliable solar power and other energy efficient technologies to work. Come meet the owners and see how they have made solar energy a part of their lives. Learn how the 30% Federal Tax Credit can help you do the same. The Tour This is a self-guided tour during the daylight hours each day per date and time listed below. Below is a list of the homes and businesses that are on the tour along with their addresses. On the FREA Solar Tour website you will find site descriptions, pictures, and site locations to Map directions. We recommend you choose the tour sites you would most like to visit on the list to have time to visit them all. The owners will meet you at the site and be available to talk about their solar energy systems. There will also be a solar contractor or other representative of the solar industry at most sites to help answer technical questions and provide information on current government incentives. This is their home, so please be courteous. Maps and Directions We recommend that you take the time to review the site description and map address location to your selected sites before heading out on your tour. You may want to use a GPS to find your way. Print the map and directions along with the additional information to take with you. When you get near the location, look for a bright orange National Solar Tour yard sign. There will be one in front of each home or business. Have a safe and enjoyable tour! If you have any questions or comments regarding the tour, please call (321) 431-3732 or email Bill Young at fl_byoung@hotmail.com.
