“IMAGINATION IS THE BEGINNING Of CREATION.”—George Bernard Shaw
Central Floridians, have you been making anything that you’d like to share with others? Perhaps you’d like to be part of the 5th Annual Maker Faire Orlando, an event that will take place at Central Florida Fairegrounds (4603 W. Colonial Dr., Orlando, FL 32808, 407-295-3247), on Saturday October 22 (10:00 am-7:00 pm), and Sunday, October 23 (10:00 am-5:00 pm), 2016. Maker Faire Orlando is a community-organized, family-friendly celebration featuring local do-it-yourself science, art, rockets, robots, crafts, technology, music, hands-on-activities, and more. It’s an event where people show what they are making and share what they are learning. Maker Faire Orlando is produced by The Maker Effect Foundation.
So, if you are parents, students, scientists, garage tinkerers and share a love for innovation, creativity and make something that would make people happy, then join the Maker Faire Orlando! It’s a showcase of invention, creativity, resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement. Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds.
The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect and grow this community. The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA . In 2014, Maker Faire of San Mateo, CA celebrated its ninth annual show with some 1100 makers and 130,000 people in attendance. World Maker Faire New York, the other flagship event, has grown in four years to 600+ makers and 80,000 attendees. Orlando, Detroit, Kansas City, Atlanta, Milwaukee, Silver Spring, Paris, Rome, Oslo, Tondheim, Tokyo, Newcastle (UK), and Shenzhen are the home of larger-scale, “featured” Maker Faires and over 150 community-driven, independently organized Mini Maker Faires are now being produced around the United States and the world.
