Our experience with Uber and Lyft had been so positive that hubby and I have been seriously considering down-sizing to be a one-car family. Why dealing with the extra expense when we’re both working online?! Especially after we figured/compared the wear and tare on the car, insurance, fuel cost, parking, time saved from not driving, and interesting conversation with uber/lyft drivers, it is truly more cost effective to be uber/lyft user from time to time. Then we got a call from our daughter (who recently returned from oversea) about a week ago, explaining to us her need of a car. Thinking this is as good as any sign from the Universe, voila, we sent our minivan off to our daughter in one of the Western states and decidedly have become a one-car family again! It felt quite en-lightening 🙂 This is one of the many projects we are attempting in the process of taking part in slowing down climate change, owning fewer cars, switching to electrical vehicle, and peddling more bikes and walking more frequently. It may not seem much, but if we all consciously make such efforts, small changes may accumulate to big change for our planet.

Allow me to share what H.G. Wells once said, “Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race.”

So, one of the first things I did this week was to look for a bike repair shop to repair my bike tires. Did you know that there is not a single bike shop in Windermere? The closest bike shops I found were in Winter Garden. With a growing population group and great bike paths being available in Windermere area, I sure hope some of you bike enthusiasts out there would consider starting a bike shop some where in Windermere. In the spirit of clean, sustainable, and green living, I hope some of you who are looking for green and sustainable business ideas would consider “starting a bike shop”.
