It is both an honor and a pleasure to write a post on Orlando Ballet School (OBS)…not just because OBS is one of the few ballet schools in USA that is certified by ABT (American Ballet Theater) or the fact that Orlando Ballet School has received multiple awards at Youth American Grand Prix (a prestigious competition to identify promising young dance talents and outstanding schools) in Miami, FL this year ( summary of OBS’s awards). But the realization that I am observing an art form that is truly sublime,

upon walking into one of the rehearsals by students of Orlando Ballet School at Central Campus (originally at 2201 McRae Ave., Orlando, FL 32803, now temporarily at 415 East Princeton St., Orlando, FL 32803-1453, 407-426-1733), shared below !
OBS has been providing classical ballet training since 1982 and is considered the best school in Southeast USA. Classical ballet is a beautiful art form requiring much concentration, focus, poise, and years of disciplined practice. These are skills and qualities valued by any profession or field. For a school of such high caliber, it is not surprising to find well-qualified and dedicated leadership behind the scene; some of the well known names in the ballet world can be found in the Orlando Ballet School: Artistic Director Robert Hill, Director Dierdre Miles Burger, Manager Julie Zimmerman, Assistant Kim Marsh, Performance Director Bevalie Pritchard, Choreographer Gonzalo Espinoza, Artistic Assistant Katie Slattery, Outreach Coordinator Randee Workowski, Principal Teacher Oliver Munoz, Seminole School Principal Natasha Glos, and South School Principal Marion Tonner. Below, let’s hear from Director Dierdre Miles Burger of Orlando Ballet School, who has dedicated her whole life’s work to ballet (formative training with Margaret Prishwalko Fallon, Boston Ballet School on a Ford Foundation Scholarship, then danced at Boston Ballet, NYC and Houston, becoming artistic coordinator at Boston Ballet in 1998 and faculty of Boston Conservatory between 1991-2001, principal of Boston Ballet School in 2002, and completing ABT Certified Teacher Training Intensive in 2009) :
