The announcement of the celebration of Arbor Day reminded me of another form of festivity that regularly occurs in this community, the Farmer’s Market. There are several Farmer’s Markets in the greater Windermere area:
- Windermere Farmer’s Market: every Friday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, is centrally located between 5th and 6th on Main Street, near the round-about in Downtown Windermere, FL, weather permits. There is a parking lot nearby. For more information, please contact 407-575-5392. One may find fresh produce, fruits & plants, orchids & flowering plants, natural soaps & beauty products, prepared food, arts & crafts, etc.
- Winter Garden Farmer’s Market (at Winter Garden Downtown Pavilion): every Saturday from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm, 104 S. Lakeview Ave., Winter Garden, FL 34787. It is one of the most vibrant farmer’s markets I’ve ever seen, full of great variety of produce, arts and crafts (even from Kenya), natural soaps & beauty products, orchids & plants, herbs & natural health vendors, prepared food, and live music! Parking lot behind Plant Street and next to the farmer’s market. Families may picnic, gather with friends, and enjoy live music for good part of the day! There is even a nearby water feature
where children may splash and be merry.For more information, please contact: 407-656-4155. - Rumor has it that Summerport area is developing its own Farmer’s Market, coming soon in February, 2016. Tentatively, Feb. 21, 2016 (Sunday). I hope they will also include live music for it would increase the level of festivity and community residents are more likely to linger.
