Heavenly Collaboration, Online A Capella Virtual Choir of Eric Whitacre

The first time I was exposed to Virtual Choir was via the video above: “Fly to Paradise” of Eric Whitacre‘s Virtual Choir 4. I was immediately mesmerized. It’s not just because the animated character in the video has the same kind of pigtail that I did when I was eight…it’s not just because I’ve always enjoyed singing (in the shower or else where…)…it’s not just because music and singing had long been part of my life and there had been plenty of opportunities for me to take part in different singing groups or choirs…but all of the above plus more: the fact that Fly to Paradise actually is based on the collaboration of voices from 5905 singers from 101 countries! What wondrous work! Isn’t it wonderful to be alive during the 21st century when such tremendously beautiful harmony can be produced via internet?!
