After my yoga class, a nice lady from Bangladesh approached me to chat about various topics….one of which concerns solar energy. Since she’s recently visited Bangladesh, she commented, “Why are the solar panels so much cheaper in Bangladesh than solar panels in USA?” Well, there are quite a few reasons behind this fact:
- Tariffs that’s been artificially added to cheaper solar panels from Asia to protect American solar manufacturer. If you’d like to understand more about this topic, please feel free to refer to these links: ( Anti-Dumping Tariffs Hurt Americans More Than It Helps! - Insufficient competitions within USA (or in FL): there had not been as much solar business growth in the past here in FL (although this will soon change). We have observed time and time again, the business growth potential and growth rate often correlate to polic(ies), incentives, and whether or not there is any mandate or goal in place. At this point, I’d like to invite you to DSIRE (Database of State Incentives for Renewables & Efficiency). Notice that there had been tremendous solar businesses and job growth in CA (the state with the most effective policies and incentives for renewables & efficiency.)
- Often people I talked to have data from 5 years ago. The cost of solar has dropped tremendously within the past 5 years. It is well worth one’s time and effort to try to get an updated estimate again.
Time for all of us to check on the updated cost of installing solar! Time for all of us to participate in the transition toward Solar/Renewable Energy Age! If you are interested in obtaining solar installations to reduce your electricity bills and are short of funding, check out Loans & Grants For Small Businesses (many of these links may also be applicable to individuals or home owners). If you do not own your home, own a house that is shaded or that does not have optimal exposure to the sun but would like to take advantage of the sunshine to reduce your utility bills, then check out Start A Community Solar Garden/Farm.
