We’ve recently adopted the habit of taking walks at dusk. Not only is it a great way to exercise, to drink in the sunset, but it also provides us with opportunity to observe how our neighbors have landscaped their spaces. In the process, we’ve also gained some helpful tips and inspirations.

Especially because I’ve just had a conversation about water conservation with my friend Marcia in California (where the 4-year drought has just landed the state a mandatory 25% water use reduction from its Governor Brown), I couldn’t help noticing one particular neighbor’s front and side yard

…where just the right amount of curves and variety of coloration makes it an interesting design…while perfect combination of mulching, bricks, and gravels/rocks making this space quite water-friendly.
Perhaps next time you go on a walk there will be tips on landscape designs from your neighbors, waiting to be discovered….enjoy your treasure hunt!
