For our theme park fans, this is your long awaited news! Many of our beloved entertainment parks will be opened after months of lockdown, in the video “Disney, Universal, SeaWorld, Legoland Reveal Plans To Reopen Theme Parks, TODAY“, below:
For our Disney fans, here is your long awaited news: On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, Disney proposed a phased reopening of Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom on July 11, 2020, and reopening of Epcot and Hollywood Studios on July 15, 2020. Disney plans on setting significant limit (observing CDC’s guidelines for 6 feet social distancing) on attendance and will require park visitors to purchase their tickets in advance of arriving at various Disney parks.
Some of Disney’s planned safety measures are: additional hand washing stations, temperature checks, and social distancing throughout the parks, including at restaurants and wait lines for rides. Disney is also suspending parades and various events that would cause crowds to gather. Contactless payments using Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Disney Magic Bands will be encouraged.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis required that theme parks would need approval from the Orange County’s Economic Recovery Task Force, a panel of business and community leaders appointed by Mayor Jerry Demings, before he would sign off on their reopening dates. The task force voted to approve Disney’s plan.
On Wednesday, May 27, 2020, SeaWorld has also presented reopening plan and date on June 11, 2020. Last week, Universal presented reopening plan and date on June 5, 2020, for Universal Studios, Universal Islands of Adventure and water park Volcano Bay
Universal Orlando presented their reopening plans to the Orange County Economic Task Force earlier today. In addition to the safety guidelines that will be implemented, a planned reopening date was revealed! Universal is planning to reopen on June 1st to Team Members, with a public reopening planned for June 5th. They went into great detail regarding their safety requirements (including face masks and temperature checks) as well as dining experience changes, virtual queues and more. Disney did not present their plans today, but are expected to in the coming days ahead, in the video “Universal Orlando Will Reopen on June 5th!, Universal Reopening Plans and Safety Protocol Details“, below:
