During time of lockdown or stay-at-home order (which begins at midnight on Thursday, April 2, 2020, for Floridians), creative juice of people from various parts of the world have directed toward COVID-19, musically. Since our previous post, The Sound Of A Pandemic, I’ve received several interesting musical adaptations, COVID-19 style, shared below:
A family from Kent, UK who shared a video of their living room performance of a lockdown-themed adaptation of a Les Misérables song have become a sensation online. Ben and Danielle Marsh and their four children changed the lyrics of One Day More to reflect common complaints during the Covid-19 lockdown. Neil Diamond is doing his part to promote steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus – and he found a creative way to do it. So, whether you’re living alone or with a big family, perhaps you’ll let your creative juice flow or your vocal cord to stretch. We’re all in this together. In time, COVID-19 shall pass. Let’s be patient, stay at home, and wait for the curve to flatten out.
Please wash your hands often (each time for at least 20 seconds), get tested if you need to and can, stop shaking hands, observe social distancing (staying at least 6 feet from others), be sure to get sufficient rest, be well nourished, exercised, drink plenty of hot water and ginger tea, and decrease unnecessary social contacts.
Some of the basics needed in prepping for potential self-quarantine:
- Hand cleanser (soap & water & hand sanitizer)
- Cleaning products: for cleaning household surfaces such as countertops, faucets, door knobs, drawer pulls, light switches, telephone, handles of brooms, mops, etc., for reference list suggested by CDC, click HERE.)
- Laundry detergent
- Food (at least 3 weeks worth of staples: beans, pasta, rice, canned vegetables, frozen food, canned soup, shelf-stable milk, or dehydrated food, etc.)
- Water (be it in bottled water form or activated carbon filter pitcher and/or distiller)
- Face masks
- Prescription meds (talk to your doctor as to how much of your prescription meds need to be stocked)
- Over-the-counter medicine (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, cough medicine, etc.)
- Thermometer
- Robust WiFi
- Video conferencing services
- Entertainment (check out: Netflix’s Pandemic & Amazon’s Contagion)
- Exercise guides or equipment
