Good News: Elon Musk May Have Tesla Producing Ventilators To Help U.S. Hospitals

Late on Wednesday night, March 18, 2020, the founder of Tesla, Elon Musk, tweeted, “We will make ventilators if there is a shortage.”
Musk later indicated that he would direct ventilators to be sent to hospitals acutely affected by potential shortage. He said/tweeted in response to q question from FiveThirtyEights Nate Silver, “Tesla makes cars with sophisticated HVAC systems. SpaceX makes spacecraft with life support systems. Ventilators are not difficult, but cannot be produced instantly. Which hospitals have these shortages you speak of right now?”
In a response tweet, Elon Musk said late Wednesday night, March 18, 2020, May that Tesla will make ventilators in the event of a shortage, in the video “BREAKING: Elon Musk says TESLA “will make ventilators”“, below:
Elon Musk said on Twitter that he and Tesla could start making ventilators to assist hospitals with CoronaVirus Patients, in the video “De Blasio Asks Elon Musk For Ventilators“, below:
Elon Musk offered to help make medical supplies for US hospitals (like ventilators, masks, etc) and Mayor de Blasio is taking him up on the offer. After a long twitter exchange (prompted by Nate Silver), it appears as if Tesla/SpaceX are reaching out to the New York City government and may supply them with direly needed medical equipment. I think this is an awesome initiative by Elon, and could be a win/win. NYC gets help, and Tesla’s factory employees have something to do, in the video “Tesla To Make Emergency Medical Supplies?” below:
*Latest update- Elon Musk said, “Should have 1,000 ventilators next week and 250,000 N95 masks for hospitals tomorrow.”
If any one can make this transition and help hospitals in Seattle and New York City, Elon Musk and Tesla’s engineers surely can! Elon, we’re all rooting for you guys!
So, let’s all try to stay home as much as possible! As for individual citizens, please wash your hands often, stop shaking hands, be sure to get sufficient rest, be well nourished, exercised, drink plenty of hot water and ginger tea, and decrease unnecessary social contacts.
Some of the basics needed in prepping for potential self-quarantine:
- Hand cleanser (soap & water & hand sanitizer)
- Cleaning products: for cleaning household surfaces such as countertops, faucets, door knobs, drawer pulls, light switches, telephone, handles of brooms, mops, etc., for reference list suggested by CDC, click HERE.)
- Laundry detergent
- Food (at least 3 weeks worth of staples:beans, pasta, rice, canned vegetables, frozen food, canned soup, shelf-stable milk, or dehydrated food, etc.)
- Water (be it in bottled water form or activated carbon filter pitcher and/or distiller)
- Face masks
- Prescription meds (talk to your doctor as to how much of your prescription meds need to be stocked)
- Over-the-counter medicine (acetaminophen, ibuprofen, cough medicine, etc.)
- Thermometer
- Robust WiFi
- Video conferencing services
- Entertainment (check out: Netflix’s Pandemic & Amazon’s Contagion)
- Exercise guides or equipment
