Despite 432 COVID-19 reported cases and 9 reported deaths from COVID-19 in state of Florida by Thursday, March 19, 2020, those who wanted to party from various parts of the USA and rest of the world continued to flock down to Florida Miami beaches, not observing the social or physical distance that authority and medical professionals have been warning us about. So, local authorities had to step in.
Gatherings of 50 or more are canceled for the next two weeks to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. There is now a 11:00 pm curfew in place for Miami beaches in Miami-Dade County. On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Miami-Dade County mayor ordered all beaches, parks, and “non-essential” commercial and retail businesses closed due to COVID-19 outbreak. City of Miami and Miami-Dade County are ordering bars and restaurants to close by 11:00 pm and restaurant kitchens may stay open for delivery of food. Miami Dade County mayor is also asking these establishments to cut their capacity by 50%. Mayor Beach Mayor Dan Gelber said, “All non-essential retails will be closed by 10:00 pm and curfew will be at 11:00 pm in the entertainment district….We are asking them to follow the 50% occupancy suggestion. It will be criminal offense to disobey this.…We cannot be a petri dish for a very dangerous virus.” Miami beach party is shutting down.

- Pharmacies
- Grocery/Convenience Stores

It is important to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in order to prevent overwhelming the capacity of our healthcare system. So let’s apply social distancing (staying at least 6 feet away from others) and (canceling large gatherings and reduce non-essential social interactions) and wash our hands with soap and water often (for at least 20 seconds each time), avoid sick people, avoid crowds, eat nutritiously, be well rested, drink lots of clean water and ginger tea, exercise privately, remain calm and practice yoga and meditate.
Mitigating the spread of the coronavirus can help lessen the load hospitals will face, in the video “Flattenning the curve by mitigating the spread of coronavirus“, below:
Keep in mind that healthcare workers are busy working in the hospitals for us, so it is only right for us to try to mitigate their pressure by staying home.

So, let’s all try to stay home as much as possible! As for individual citizens, please wash your hands often, stop shaking hands, be sure to get sufficient rest, be well nourished, exercised, drink plenty of hot water and ginger tea, and decrease unnecessary social contacts.
