It’s often true that if an entity stops growing, it would soon meet its end. Perhaps that is the philosophy Facebook is functioning on when its direction is starting to invade Tinder’s space with a new set of dating features. The difference is: Facebook will be encouraging long term, meaningful relationships rather than just temporary hook-ups. Facebook is enabling its users to opt in to create a dating profile on Facebook. This dating profile will only be visible to non-friends who also opted into dating. Since Facebook has more data on its users than any other app, it could potentially deliver more relevant matches via a slew of preferences, such as dating preferences, interests in common, and in mutual friends. Facebook will start testing this dating feature later in 2018. It should be interesting to update you on Facebook’s newfound quest for meaningful interactions as 2018 continues….
