White House Lack-of Security Clearances Risking National Security

Since White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Tuesday that the White House’s personnel security office’s investigation into former aide Rob Porter was still underway last week when he resigned amid allegations of domestic abuse (violence toward both ex-wives), accusations against aide renewed attention on White House security clearances. NBC and various other news outlet are told that dozens or more at White House lack permanent security clearances and yet are working with classified documents/information. Democrats said that Trey Gowdy, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, has refused to ask the White House for any information about security clearances or for a formal briefing on the matter. Apparently neither Ivanka Trump nor Jared Kushner has the security clearance necessary for access to classified information. Below, with the help of some experts, Rachel Maddow shed some light for us on the need and process of security clearance:
*MSNBC has just reported that more than 130 political appointees of the White House do not have security clearance.
