With our previous post regarding DACA in The Child Will Not Share The Guilt of the Parent…., the update is that President Trump ordered, on Tuesday (Sep. 5, 2017), an end to DACA, the Obama era program that temporarily shielded those undocumented minors (aka Dreamers) from deportation and become eligible to 2-year renewable work permit. President Trump is urging Congress to pass a replacement legislation before he begins phasing out its (DACA’s) protections in six months. Below, are videos of: President Trump Ends DACA:

Trump Ends DACA program, Leaves It To Congress To Act

Keep in mind that majority of the Dreamers were given work permit, but this two-year renewable work permit is not a permanent solution nor does it provide much of the rights and protection of a legal U.S. citizen. It is necessary for the Dreamers to have legitimacy and certainty in the future. Therefore, it is essential for the Congress to bring certainty of future for these Dreamers via legislation/law. So, President Trump is asking the Congress to sort out the situation within 6 months. Below, Amy Walter of the Cook Political Report and Stuart Rothenberg of Inside Edition join John Yang to discuss the issues Congress must tackle in the next few months, plus various other issues:

As former President Obama commented, DACA was intended to be a temporary solution and not a permanent fix, now President Trump is setting a deadline for the Congress for when this issue needs to be fixed.
