Remember almost two years ago, in an earlier post, “Loving Parents Prevail-Groundbreaking Ceremony of The New West Orange Relief High School of 2017“on the day of groundbreaking ceremony of Windermere High School (aka West Orange Relief High School), September 24, 2015, these loving parents and students took part in this video below:
After two years of construction, name and principal selection, allow me to bring you the first letter of the Windermere High School Principal, Douglas J. Guthrie, below:

In the month of April 2017 the following was achieved:
Site: By the end of April, significant progress was made in both the Visitor and Student Parking Lots in regards to the installation of the lime rock subbase and asphalt paving. Paving operations of both parking lots were completed by the end of the month and has progressed to the Parent Drop-Off Lane and Student Entry Driveway. The fine grading, irrigation and landscaping of all of the green areas near the parking lot areas has followed closely behind the paving operations. Additionally landscaping along the retaining walls along CR 535 has been completed as well. Installation of the Bike Rack enclosure was completed in April. Subgrade preparations at the Baseball Field, including placement of the Root Zone soils and the irrigation have all been completed. Bermuda sod installation has also been completed at the Baseball Field as well and final grading of the clay infield and warning are being completed. The underground drainage system and placement of the Root Zone soils has all been completed at the Practice Soccer Fields as well. Irrigation system installation was started by the end of April and is scheduled to be completed in early May, with the placement of the Bermuda sod starting immediately after. Perimeter fencing near the Practice Soccer Fields, storm water pond, and Student Parking Lot driveway has all been completed by the end of April. The installation of the decorative ornamental fencing along CR 535 and the retaining walls is currently in progress. Site sidewalk installation around the interior Courtyard area has progressed throughout April allowing for the installation of the Aluminum Canopy system. By the end of April, the canopy system has been installed on the courtyard side of Buildings 100, 200, 300, 400 and portions of 800. The high canopy work at the 3-story Classroom Building is currently being completed.
Main Building Package: Throughout the month of April, the Administration, Media Center Gymnasium and Cafeteria have progressed to installation of the final finishes. Final painting has been completed in a majority of the buildings, which has allowed for the installation of the vinyl base and internal punch list work to start. Initial HVAC Test and Balance of the Administration, Media Center and Cafeteria building has been completed and allowed for the HVAC Subcontractor to address any potential issues. Installation of the telescoping bleachers for the Gymnasium and staining/painting of the Basketball Court has all been completed in April. Installation of the ceiling systems is ongoing throughout the Classroom Buildings, following closely behind the completion of the MEP overhead rough in. VCT placement has been completed in a majority of the classrooms and is progressing to the common spaces through May. Student locker installation has been ongoing in the Classroom Building and will be completed by mid-May. Overhead rough in of the MEP systems has all been completed in the Auditorium seating area. Installation of the “clouds” acoustical panels and painting of the above ceiling systems has also been completed in the Auditorium. Preparations of the concrete flooring and painting of the interior walls are all underway in advance of the seating which is scheduled for installation in early May.
