June 4, 2016, was a hot and sunny day here in Central Florida. But the high temp was not able to deter the hardy group of C.H.A.R.G.E. Dragon Boat Club members from having fun and burning calories.

Many Floridians/Central Floridians showed up by the shore of Lake Fairview Park of Orlando area (2200 Lee Rd., Orlando, FL), ready to test their metal while having some SunFun. Even though this is an event by CAACF (CAACF, Chinese American Association of Central Florida, current President Joanna Kiang, 812-361-6809, jckiang@gmail.com), it is also sponsored by C.H.A.R.G.E. Dragon Boat Club (second year at ORC, Orlando Rowing Club), ORC (Orlando Rowing Club), and Orlando Dragon Boat Club. This event have received much supports  (such as Orlando Health) locally. It is composed of people from teens to 70’s from all walks of life and different parts of Florida. The organizers for C.H.A.R.G.E. Dragon Boat Club are C.K. Lau (also co-Captain), Alan Oyler (coach), Susan Hoeh, Ken Graff, Maki Young and Captain John Chung (407-595-8388, JohnChungI@yahoo.com). As a rule, this energetic group meets on Thursday (6:30-7:30 pm) and Saturday (8:30-9:30 am) at Lake Fairview Park (2200 Lee Rd., Orlando, FL) to practice. It’s a fantastic way to get some exercises and socialize with great variety of people with the common goal: BURNING OFF SOME SERIOUS CALORIES!!!

This is the second time I’ve participated in this group’s activity. Believe me! I have never been this SUN DRENCHED and felt so totally rejuvenated by spending only one hour paddling or few hours on the shore. I was totally happily exhausted by the end of the event, but feeling terrifically lightened the next day (must be those calories I’ve burned off by being under the sun or paddling for a full hour!) Just look at the smiles on these participants’ faces in the video and photos in the gallery above! They are looking for ways to play, learn to paddle, have fun, and meet others with positive energy. If you’re looking for a group of people so totally energized with open positive energy, look no further! Their enthusiasm was so infectious that even the 2 ducks nearby
