Art X Social Change Night at the Milk District’s Space Bar on June 12, 4:00-8:00 p.m.-Postponed
Dear Friends & Neighbors,
(Please click on red links & note magenta)
In light of the recent shooting event in Orlando, this Art X Social Change Night event is postponed until further notice.
During this past Saturday Dragon Boat Race (aka Duanwu) Festival at Lake Fairview Park, I came across a very energetic and resourceful young man, Ricky Ly
(who is also a professional civil engineer, a food blogger of tastychomps.com ,
and a District Delegate for Congressional District 9, representing Bernie Sanders at the DNC, Democratic National Convention). Ricky showed me the poster for a very interesting upcoming event, Art X Social Change Night, that will take place on Sunday, June 12, 2016, between 4:00 -8:00 p.m., at the Milk District’s Space Bar (2428 E. Robinson St., Orlando, FL). The goal of this event is to encourage civic participation in building community awareness and support through artistic expression. The theme of the artwork and performances involve music, dance, song, poetry, visual art, spoken words, plays, or print graphics around social issues (such as environment, justice, women’s or human rights, equality, world peace, civil rights, education, etc.) All mediums and participants are welcomed. Even though deadline for submission was on Sunday (June 5, 2015) at midnight. Perhaps if you plead with Ricky via email to [email protected] some time today, he may try to be flexible for you. Performances will be held at the Milk District’s Space Bar at 2428 E. Robinson Street and artist displays and vendors will be surrounding the Milk District’s parking lot area. The event is free and open to the public. BTW, I think you can also register to vote there. So, it is definitely a multi-purpose event that will enable us to have fun, opportunity to express and share our concerns, and be responsible citizens. Where else can you find an event like this?!
Any comments, suggestions, concerns regarding this post will be welcomed at [email protected]
